GETTING AROUND THE CITY

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

GTT – Gruppo Torinese Trasporti – runs Torino’s urban transport service with a network of buses, trams, railways, and an automatic underground line (the first driverless underground railway in Italy).

Tickets can be purchased at kiosks, newsstands, or via mobile apps, and must be validated on board.

GTT staff, with particular attention to safety, provide assistance in terms of customer accessibility. Here are some of the service features:

  • stopping the vehicle at the stop sign
  • approaching the platform
  • assistance in getting on and off for wheelchair users on vehicles equipped with ramps
  • information on lines and routes

Before starting the journey, with the GTT services on the Telegram app (write in the contact search: ‘gttorari’), with the MOOVIT app or via direct access to the link on the https://www.gtt.to.it/cms/en/percorari/urbano, it is possible to obtain information, in real time, about the passage of the line of interest at a specific stop and also the relative accessibility of the tram that will arrive at that stop.

On the MOOVIT app:

- all the lines operated by GTT with their real-time situation

- the ability to plan your own journeys

- information on upcoming stops in real time

- information on the next stop when on board the vehicle

- targeted and timely messages on the status of the service (official GTT information is integrated with that provided by users of the app)

Wheelchair

Most of the buses in service are equipped with a dedicated wheelchair space.

Passengers in wheelchairs access the equipped vehicle, position themselves correctly in the defined space and observe the instructions on the sticker on the vehicles.

All wheelchairs (manual or electric) can board public transport as long as they are within the weight limits (in relation to the access ramp) and position themselves safely (in reverse gear with the wheels locked) in the dedicated area.

Maximum weight supported by the access ramp: 300 kg.
